Day 5 – Gratitude

Today I'm grateful and thankful for The Law of Detachment

The law of detachment, as taken from Deepak Chopra's book, 'The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success'

In DETACHMENT lies the wisdom of uncertainty... in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning. And in our willingness to step into the unknown, the field of all possibilities, we surrender ourselves to the creative mind that orchestrates the dance of the universe.

Practicing the law of detachment is a lot harder than you think or it sounds. In relationships we become to attached to the very people that we know are not right for us, we become addicts to their poison and judge ourselves making us the victims of fear. Through attachment we allow ourselves to give up that which matters to us, pieces of who we are, all of the material possessions that we own, our car, our bank accounts, the job that we hate but feel as though we need. Through attachment we settle for pennies, when we should have already started the search for gold and better opportunities.

What we often forget many times over, is that in life, everything that we own is borrowed. The house that we live in, the clothes on our backs, the air in our lungs, our families, our friends, the very life that we live because in death, we lose it all. So through attachment we tend to forget to be thankful for the blessings in our lives, and grateful for those that love us unconditionally. Through detachment, we open ourselves up to the infinite possibilities to live in thanks and to live life without regrets. Now this is not easy when children are in the picture, you can still live in thanks and gratefulness, but making rash decisions is not recommended.

So practicing detachment is paying off in major ways, and I am beginning to live a more peaceful life... I hope this helps you do the same. If nothing else, the book is a must read.
