Day 7 - Rediscovering Epcot

DAY 7
Day 7 is here and we are are all rested up. Visiting Disney is not always a cake walk given the heat and the crowds mixed in with the constant walking from theme park attraction to attraction or in search of food you will get burned out. If you are like me then large crowds from time to time can drain you.
Morning is Here
The day starts with my wife and i making our way to breakfast and then to the poolside for a last minute attempt to beat the morning sun. This is a morning without calls, without business, without email, and without stocks. With the sun out and no threat of rain or lightning it was the start of a good day full of cardiovascular exercise from walking and swimming, our attempt to work off the $10 USD Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie Treat with Chocolate ears. Oh yeah it was great and very tasty.
Epcot Revisited
Day 7 spent at Disney’s Epcot, the home of a few countries in a small bundle of fun. From the Coronado Springs Resort to the shuttle in order to make our way to Epcot in search of lunch and some good international dining. Epcot was pretty interesting the second time around, this time we were prepared and had an idea of what attractions to get to before the crowd rush. Well, this plan did not work so well for us.
- Soarin’
- Honey, I shrunk the Audience
- Innoventions: The Road to Tomorrow
- Journey into Imagination with Figment
- All of the International Pavilions
- Ellen DeGeneres’ Energy Adventure
Needless to say we missed out time for Soarin’ and had to settle for ‘FastPasses,’ which allowed us to ride the attraction without waiting in the main line which normally took 80minutes. Instead we had to arrive at the attraction at 4pm, it was 1:30pm. So we missed out on riding Soarin’ one last time.
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, was great. Another 3-D interactive audience show with the original cast of “Honey, I Shrunk the kids.” This show was great for both kids and adults. Another great show was the “Ellen DeGeneres’ Energy Adventure.” Hosted by Ellen herself and Ben Sty the Science Guy, as they walk through the creation of earth as we know it today and the importance of energy. Very educational, very educational indeed. Whether or not you believe in the ‘Big Bang’ the attraction is still entertaining.
Dining
After making our way from attraction to attraction and finally through the pavilions we struggled again to find good food, and then there was China. After seeking cuisine in Disney’s Japan Pavilion we came across a Sushi bar type restaurant, and one fast food Japanese restaurant, neither was a go for us. I love Japanese cuisine but Disney was just not cutting it. Instead i had a taste for Chinese cuisine and after talking my wife out of eating in good ol’ Norway we found this incredible restaurant in the Chinese pavilion. However, at $14.95 a plate with modest servings, our server lacked an interest in doing her job. In fact, I bet she expected a hefty tip for her weak efforts and lack of time. We were seated within seconds, and although we were the only two in this broad’s section we were second to last to get served. WTH? No joke, two groups before my wife and i received their meals before us and yet they arrived 10 minutes after us.
Yeah, she earned her tip alright, all $1.50 of it. Believe me, she deserved it. Lunch was grand and very filling, and back into the hot sun we returned.
The After
The setup at Epcot was pretty neat and eye catching. I must say that i was impressed with the themes of the pavilions and the river boats that took you from one end of the theme park to the other. Not that the theme park was as big as the others it really did not take us much time to make our way from one end to the other. By 3:35pm we were so ready to head back to the resort that we passed out Fast Passes on to two kids that we felt would enjoy “Soarin’” for what we would like to believe the first time. But who knows, families nowadays make more than one trip to Disney World a year. The numbers are pretty interesting. I would say 8 out of 10 families that i talked to have already once visited Disney World once this year prior to this Spring season, very expensive.
The Top Attractions At Disney World
Now, my wife and i did not make it to ride all of the popular attractions such as Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Kali River rapids, The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Mission SPACE, Epcot’s Test Track, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and the water parks. Maybe next time when we make our way back to Disney World things would be different, like the customer service perhaps.
